About Chuan Cafe
Located at 2004 New Bern Ave, Raleigh, NC 27610, Chuan Cafe operates as a szechuan serving Raleigh in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Raleigh; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First time ordering here and used delivery service. The food was very quick. I loved the shrimp fried rice that had plenty of shrimp and veggies. It could use less sauce because itโa a bit wetter than I would like. I would not recommend the chow mein because it was too salty and the type of pork used.

If you like chicken and green beans this restaurant makes it and it is fantastic. This is my favorite Chinese meal and very hard to find on most menus. I will eat here every time Iโm in the area visiting.

After trying a few different schezwan places in the Triangle, this has been our favorite so far. We stopped by on a Monday night and the place was super busy with takeout orders. We were actually one of the only people dining in, which feels a shame because we had a really enjoyable time. The atmosphere is more similar to a takeout restaurant than your more upscale restaurant, but we knew that going in. I've seen some people comment poorly on the service and maybe it isn't 5 stars: we had to wave a server down once or twice. However, we received our food promptly and never had to request a refill. Just maybe don't expect to be waited on hand and foot -- that serves me absolutely fine. Speaking of our food, I thought everything was phenomenal. We ordered the bamboo fish as an appetizer, twice cooked pork belly and the braised chili beef. Honestly, it was almost more food than we could handle, but we rallied because it was that good. We couldn't leave anything behind. Everything was fresh and seasoned so well -- the fish in particular was superb and cooked to perfection. I could maybe see some of it not holding super well and maybe that's where some complaints about the take out co

I thought this place was average. We got take out which seems like everyone does. The place was packed with people waiting for orders but not a lot dining in. The food lacked flavor in my opinion and the noodles were just ok. The sauces were quite watery which might have attributed to the flavor. We all mildly enjoyed their food and ate leftovers but it just wasnโt my favorite Chinese food that I have had. Not sure if it is better in the restaurant than the take out or maybe we just ordered the wrong stuff. The door dash drivers said they are always in there so the people must like it! Maybe we just went on an off day.

After all the recommendations to try the Mongolian Beef, we were excited to try it! It had great flavor but an insane amount of onions. Maybe this is other peopleโs tastes but it was a surprising amount of onions and not enough beef for the price. The general tsoโs was great! The chicken was still crispy even with a generous amount of sauce and the flavor was addicting. We also liked the cucumber salad, it was a nice fresh side to have with the heavier main dishes. The interior was clean and very nicely lit up. Weโll be back!! Weโre excited to try some more authentic/traditional dishes next time.
